too good to be true

On the cusp of UNLV making it to the NCAA tournament for the first time in 7 years, many of us who have followed the program for a while are weary. We don’t want to get too excited because we have been burned so many times before. We have seen national championships tainted by recruiting controversies, and watched as we saw the greatest recruiting class of any college in the mid-nineties (Caron Butler, Lamar Odom, Shawn Marion) be dismantled becuase of violations. This is the Rebels best team in 16 years, and we all keep waiting for the bottom to drop out. Watching the team with one eye closed, hoping that by all means, we can avoid controversy.

THE BOTTOM JUST DROPPED OUT

Controversy has once again befallen the UNLV basketball program. Like the article says, I can’t wait to see Billy Packer try to explain to the kids at home why Joe Darger has two mommies.

  1. First off, screw you for making me think something bad had happened my beloved Rebels. I would rather give up a testicle then see this run derailed. So what if Darger comes from a household of “Big Love?” Maybe this will give en edge to Lon in recruiting in Colorado City. Afterall there has got to be a pretty big pool to scout considering the size of those families.

  2. “So what if Darger comes from a household of ‘Big Love’?”

Well, let me show you. Here’s the quote from the start of that article:

“If any of you polygamists out there are looking for a team to support in the NCAA tournament, might I recommend the UNLV Runnin’ Rebs?”

Great, now we’re the official college basketball team of polygamists. Well, now co-workers in each city other than Vegas have a new way of outing closet polygamists in their office. Just see who picked UNLV as champion in the NCAA pool.
